We both slept very badly in the Maasparel,
for a reason we do not know, the bed is good, no noise from other
rooms and the temperature in the room is good thanks to the silent air conditioning.
Maybe because we didn't open the window.
The weather is also not good, it is cloudy and, according to expectations, a little rain
can fall.
Today, despite the weather, we will go for a bike ride.
The breakfast is beyond expectations. The breakfast room is a large cheerful conservatory overlooking the garden. There is a wide choice of bread, sufficient toppings, a few types of sausage and a few types of cheese. And of course there is fruit, yogurt, jam and so on. And also the coffee is quite good.
After dinner we want to get our bikes out of the garage, but that's not easy. The box is full of bicycles, and our bicycles are in the back. After shuffling with other bikes we get our bikes outside.
We are going to cycle a route of 45 km, long both Maas banks, which means crossing twice
with a ferry.
The route, a short description and a row
cycling junctions, we have received from the hotel together with 5 other routes.
Almost immediately we go in the wrong direction, Tom has looked at the wrong route, but
fortunately it is only a short detour, a kilometer or two.
The area is, mainly due to the weather, not very cheerful, but we continue cycling quietly.
We arrive at a ferry, but according to the description we have to go further.
But then there is no ferry to be seen, and upon inquiry there is indeed no ferry.
We cycle back to the ferry we did see.
When we get on the ferry it starts to rain, not hard luckily.
But on the other side it starts to rain harder.
Fortunately, there is a restaurant, Veerhuys Tante Jet, where we drink a cup of coffee.
When the weather is dry we continue cycling and eventually arrive in Grubbenvorst where we
have something to eat at Brasserie Lekker Gewoën.
It is a pity that the cook does not know how to warm up sandwiches, which were very dry.
In Grubbenvorst we cross the Maas again and along the Maas we cycle back to Arcen.
A bike ride of just over 50 km.
We walk a bit more in Arcen and then have dinner at the hotel restaurant. Because we had a late lunch, we eat three starters together. Just like yesterday very nice.
